In early August 2017 a "screed" by James Damore, a software-engineer with Google, that had been circulating at Google was published online:

And the Internet erupted in long discussions. Many persons took apart the sexism that made up most of the paper

Others defended him against the "SJWs" (social justice warriors)

Damore was subsequently fired and there was even more discussion. He started a Twitter handle, @Fired4Truth, that has since been renamed to his orthonym.

The New York Times published an article about the backlash, and there have been strong reactions to it.
